Looter ARPG

Best Looter ARPGs on Steam

A looter ARPG is a game about the slot machine and the build. You click through crowds of enemies from an overhead camera, items rain out of them, and every so often one of those items rewrites what your character does entirely. The genre suits achievement hunters better than almost anything else, because the lists are usually enormous and built around things you were going to do anyway - finish the campaign on a harder difficulty, level a second class, complete a set, push deeper into the endgame. These are the loot-driven action RPGs on Steam worth committing a build to, ranked on how good the itemisation feels and how much of the achievement list is play rather than busywork.

1Grim Dawn
Grim Dawn
The most generous build system in the genre: two mastery classes combined per character, with devotion constellations layered on top. 234 achievements is one of the biggest lists here, and it rewards playing several very different characters rather than grinding one.

2Diablo IV
Diablo IV
The most polished moment-to-moment combat on the list, with a genuinely dark campaign and a seasonal endgame that keeps resetting the treadmill. 45 achievements, a comparatively small list, so this is the friendliest entry point if you want a completable ARPG rather than a career.

3Titan Quest Anniversary Edition
Titan Quest Anniversary Edition
The classic mythological ARPG, still with one of the cleanest dual-mastery skill systems ever made. 115 achievements, and it is one of the games we have a full SteamVault walkthrough for, including a stack plan for the achievements you can chase in a single character run.

4Torchlight II
Torchlight II
Bright, fast and unpretentious, with a pet that runs your loot back to town so you never stop to inventory-manage. 119 achievements spread across classes, difficulties and the mapworks endgame.

5Path of Exile
Path of Exile
The deepest and least forgiving item and passive economy in the genre, free to play, with a skill tree famous for looking like a star chart. 127 achievements, most of them tied to league mechanics and endgame bosses rather than the campaign.

6Book of Demons
Book of Demons
A deliberately stripped-back, papercraft take on the Diablo formula where cards replace gear and you can set how long a session will last. 202 achievements, and the short sessions make it the easiest big list on this page to chip away at.

7Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr
The ARPG loop transplanted into 40K, with cover-based shooting alongside melee and a persistent sector campaign. 95 achievements, heavily weighted toward the mission-type variety rather than pure grinding.

8Victor Vran ARPG
Victor Vran ARPG
Skips classes entirely - your build is whatever weapon and outfit you have equipped, and it plays with a dodge roll and actual jumping. 90 achievements, and the per-level challenge objectives mean a lot of them come from playing attentively rather than repeating content.

9Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem
A visually spectacular ARPG with a rotating resource system that pushes you to alternate between two damage types instead of spamming one skill. 64 achievements, the smallest list here after Diablo IV, and a launch reputation it spent years repairing.
