Best Post-Apocalyptic Games on Steam
Post-apocalyptic games get to do something almost no other setting allows: hand you a world that is already finished, and make the interesting part what people built on top of the wreckage. That is why the good ones are rarely just about scavenging. They are about a train crew who become a family, a courier deciding who runs a strip of desert, or a settlement arguing over how much of its own decency it can afford to keep warm. For achievement hunters the genre skews toward long, chunky lists: big open maps full of collectibles, difficulty modes that ask for a second run, and endings that lock each other out. These are the ruined worlds on Steam most worth walking through, ranked on how much life the developers put back into them.
