Maiming = severing or breaking a zombie's arm/leg rather than killing outright. Use sharp/heavy weapons and aim for limbs (the game's FLESH damage system rewards targeted limb hits). Just consistently chop at arms and legs instead of heads and you'll pass 100 quickly across normal play.
Use elemental weapons or mods (Caustic/acid, Fire, Shock) — or environmental hazards like puddles of water + a shock source, oil + fire, etc. Kills where the element lands the blow count. Equip an elemental weapon and lean into the environmental combos (electrify water, ignite fuel) to rack up 100.
When a zombie is downed/on the ground, a stomp/finisher prompt appears — execute it. Knock zombies down (heavy attacks, kicks) then finish them on the ground. Do this 25 times; it's natural once you get in the habit of stomping downed enemies.
Journals are readable collectibles found in houses, shops, and explorable spots all over Hell-A. Explore thoroughly — check tables, desks, and side rooms. They show on the map area completion. Use a collectible map to clean up to 50; exploring every building as you pass naturally gathers most of them.
Skill Cards are unlocked by leveling up and from certain quests/locations. Just progress the story and side content — by the time you're nearing level 30 you'll have well over 30 cards unlocked. Doing side quests speeds it up since some award specific cards.
Take a Superior (purple-tier) weapon to a Workbench and upgrade it to its maximum level, then also install at least one Weapon Mod or Perk on it. You'll need the upgrade materials (loot/scrap) and a learned mod blueprint. Pick a Superior weapon you like, farm the upgrade mats, max it, and slot a mod.
A perfect block or perfect dodge is timed right as a zombie attack lands (it staggers them / opens a counter). Practice the timing on lunging zombies — block or dodge at the last instant. Get the timing down on basic Walkers and you'll bank 25; perfect dodges then counter-attack are very effective anyway.
The Zompedia logs each zombie variant the first time you encounter/kill it. Most fill in through normal play, but a few rarer variants (special Apex types and late-game variants) require reaching specific areas/quests. Keep playing into the late game and engage every new zombie type you see; check the Zompedia for any gaps and seek out the missing variant's spawn area.
Fury mode unlocks early (a rage state where you fight bare-handed and hit hard). Build the Fury meter by fighting, then trigger Fury and kill zombies during it. Each kill while in Fury counts; pop Fury whenever it's full in a crowd and you'll reach 50 over time.
You earn XP from kills and quests. Finishing the story plus a healthy amount of side quests gets you to ~30. If you're short, grind side quests, Lost & Found missions, and dense zombie areas. It'll come naturally before or around the end of the campaign if you do side content.
Zombie Lockboxes are locked loot crates that need a key found nearby (often on a special zombie or in the same area). When you find a lockbox, look for its key in the immediate vicinity, then open it. Do this 10 times — they're common across the districts and give good loot, so open every one you find.
You need the Crossbow (acquired in a specific quest). Find a group of slow Walkers, line up headshots, and land five in a row quickly without missing. Pick a calm area with several stationary zombies, take your time aiming for heads, and chain the five hits. Carry plenty of bolts.
You can throw any melee weapon. Find a long sightline (a street or corridor) with a zombie far away, aim, and throw so it connects at 35+ meters. A throwing-friendly weapon (a knife/axe) and a distant, slow zombie make it easy — line up a long shot down a street.
Equip a Skill Card that gives a charge/shoulder-barge move (the dash attack). Find a tight cluster of zombies (a horde or a packed group), then charge straight through them so the single dash hits 5+. Wait for a crowd, line them up, and ram through in one go.
Use kicks, knockback, or charge attacks to shove zombies off ledges into instant-death pits/water. Areas with rooftops, balconies, and the pier have drop-offs. Bait zombies to an edge and boot them off. 15 across the game is easy wherever there's a ledge.
After finishing the campaign, start NG+ from the menu — you keep your level, weapons, and skill cards, so it's much faster the second time. Replay every main Story Quest to the end in NG+. Since you're over-leveled and geared, this is mostly a victory lap; just make sure you complete the full main-quest list (not side quests) in the NG+ save. Use your strongest Legendary/Superior weapons to blitz it.
