This is a hidden award tied to progressing the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds. The exact trigger is not shown in-game, but it unlocks naturally as you advance the campaign in the early Windward Plains region. You cannot miss it — just keep playing the Low Rank story quests.
Crowns record unusually large monster sizes in your Hunting Log. Hunt or capture monsters normally and eventually one will register as a silver (large) crown or bigger. There is no way to force a specific size — it is random per monster — so this comes with volume. Investigations and Tempered hunts give you more attempts at big individuals.
Mounting happens through Focus Mode wound attacks and mounted Seikret play. Deal enough wound/mount buildup to a large monster and you will climb aboard for a topple. This pops the first time you pull it off, usually within your first few hunts.
A hidden award that unlocks as part of the main story. The trigger is not displayed, but it is earned by continuing the campaign — likely a story-monster encounter during a stormy sequence. It is unmissable; keep progressing the main quests.
Field Surveys are the standard hunt quests you accept from the quest counter or field. Complete any one of them — the game funnels you into your first Field Survey very early in the story.
Open your BBQ Grill from the item pouch or a camp and cook a well-done steak (or any meal) once. It is a one-time, unmissable action available from the opening hours.
Join or host any quest with at least one other hunter (via an SOS flare, Link Party, or lobby) and complete it. Firing an SOS flare mid-quest and finishing with a responder counts.
Hidden story award. It is not shown what triggers it, but it unlocks by advancing the main campaign. Unmissable — continue the story quests.
Side missions are optional requests from NPCs, marked separately from the main story. Accept and complete any one of them; you will be offered your first shortly after reaching the base camp.
A hidden award tied to the main campaign. Its trigger is not shown, but achievements of this type in Monster Hunter typically fire on completing the Low Rank story or a major story climax. Keep progressing the campaign; it cannot be missed.
Hold the Focus Mode aim button and strike glowing wounds or a monster's weak points. Any 50 such connecting hits across your hunts count — this accrues naturally as you learn to open and pop wounds, so expect it within your first handful of hunts.
Hidden story award, earned by advancing the campaign into a new region/ecosystem. The exact trigger is not displayed. It is unmissable; continue the main quests.
Approach a large monster undetected and attack while mounted on your Seikret / from stealth to trigger a Sneak Attack (a big opening burst). Do it once. Easiest on a monster that has not yet noticed you at the start of a hunt.
Find a fishing spot (rippling water), cast your line, and reel in a catch. A one-time, unmissable action available from early on.
Visit the Seikret customization menu (from your tent/camp options) and change any decoration or appearance option once. Purely cosmetic and unmissable.
Hidden story award tied to reaching a harsh new environment in the campaign. Trigger not shown. Unmissable — keep progressing the story.
Any completed quests count toward the total — story, Field Surveys, investigations, side missions and multiplayer hunts all add up. Fifty comes well before endgame if you play through the story and dabble in optional hunts.
Hidden story award earned by advancing the campaign. Its exact trigger is not displayed. It cannot be missed; continue the main quests.
Investigations are repeatable target hunts you unlock and track from the field/map. Start and complete any one. You are introduced to them early once you begin exploring freely.
Hidden story award tied to reaching or clearing a story location. Trigger not shown. Unmissable — keep progressing the campaign.
As you explore the locales you can set up Pop-up Camps at designated sites. Establish ten different camps across the maps. You will naturally place several while exploring; mop up the rest by visiting each region's camp spots.
Rarity 7+ armor comes from higher-tier (High Rank and beyond) monster materials at the Smithy. Forge five distinct Rarity 7+ pieces — hunting a variety of tougher monsters and spending their parts gets you there as you build endgame sets.
Every large-monster hunt or capture counts. One hundred accrues steadily across the story and post-story grind — no special method, just keep hunting.
This tracks the variety of large monster species you have hunted at least once, not the total count. Work through the full roster — including High Rank and post-story monsters — to hunt each different species. The exact number needed is hidden, so aim to hunt every monster the game offers.
Hidden story award tied to a major campaign milestone. Trigger not shown, but awards like this typically fire late in the main story. Unmissable; keep progressing.
Once you have a Pop-up Camp established, open its customization options and change any element once. Quick and unmissable after you unlock camps.
The mirror of Giant Crown: hunt or capture a monster that registers as unusually small (a mini crown) in your Hunting Log. Size is random per individual, so this comes with volume — investigations give you more rolls at small specimens.
Rarity 7+ weapons are built from higher-tier monster materials at the Smithy. Forge five distinct Rarity 7+ weapons — they can be different weapon types or upgrades along different trees, as long as five separate Rarity 7+ entries exist.
Hunter Rank rises as you complete quests, accelerating in High Rank and the post-story endgame where investigations and Tempered hunts give big HR gains. HR 100 is a meaningful grind well past the credits — the biggest single time sink toward completion alongside the crown awards.
A hidden award. Based on its name and the ranked-progression pattern of the other awards, it unlocks on reaching a Hunter Rank milestone below HR 100. The exact trigger is not shown; it comes naturally as you rank up.
Hold one million zenny at once (you do not have to earn it all in one go — just have the balance). Sell spare materials and decorations rather than spending, and endgame hunt rewards will push you over the million mark.
Use a Well-done Steak / raw meat at the BBQ Grill and stop the cook at the right moment for a well-done result. A classic Monster Hunter one-timer, available from the early hours.
Keep your Palico companion in your party (the default in solo play) and complete 100 quests. Since your Palico is deployed by default when hunting solo, this tracks alongside your general quest count.
Thirty distinct side missions from NPCs. Check in with characters showing request markers and clear their optional tasks as they appear across the story and post-story.
One hundred quests finished in multiplayer (as host or by responding to SOS flares). The fastest route is firing SOS flares on your own hunts so others join, and answering others' flares from the quest board. A long co-op grind.
Open another player's Hunter Profile (via a lobby, SOS response, or the follower menu) and use the Follow option once. A quick social action.
Hidden story award earned by advancing the campaign. Its trigger is not displayed. Unmissable — keep progressing the story quests.
Weaken a large monster until it limps, lay a Shock or Pitfall Trap, and hit it with Tranq Bombs to capture rather than slay. Capturing is often faster than killing, so favour it on hunts and fifty adds up quickly.
A hidden award whose trigger is not shown. The name suggests a scripted or special one-time moment. Continue playing normally; if it is tied to a specific event you will encounter it through regular progression. Trigger not verified — see a community guide if it does not unlock naturally.
Equip and use your binoculars in the field to observe monsters. When you spot one that is a gold-crown size individual, the award fires. Since gold-crown sizes are rare, this often coincides with hunting large individuals for the crown awards — glass a big monster before engaging.
Hidden story award tied to a campaign milestone (its name suggests defeating an apex story monster). Trigger not shown but unmissable through the main story. Keep progressing the campaign.
A step up from Giant Crown: you need a gold (largest) crown recorded for at least ten different monster species. Gold crowns are rare rolls, so this means hunting many individuals of many species — one of the game's longer completion grinds. Investigations let you farm specific monsters for more size rolls.
A specific fishing catch. Fish at the right spot/conditions to reel in the giant squid endemic creature. If it is not appearing, check different fishing locations and times of day. Exact spawn conditions vary — consult a community fishing map if needed.
The small-size counterpart to Giant Crown Collector: record a mini crown for at least ten different species. Like the gold-crown grind, this is volume-driven and random per individual — farm monsters via investigations to roll more small specimens.
Rarity 6 special items are gathered/rewarded valuables. Collect ten different ones through exploration, gathering and quest rewards across the locales. Thorough map exploration and completing investigations gets you the variety.
Open the Hunter Profiles of 30 different players (in lobbies, via SOS responders, or the follower menus). Playing in populated lobbies and answering SOS flares gives you plenty of different profiles to view.
A whopper is a large-size fish catch. Fish repeatedly at good spots and land 30 that register as whoppers. Bigger fish are more likely at certain spots — settle in at a productive fishing hole and grind the catches.
The final tier of the gold-crown grind: a gold (largest) crown for a very large number of species — effectively most or all crownable monsters. The exact number is hidden. This is one of the most time-consuming awards in the game; farm size rolls through investigations and keep glassing big individuals. Pair it with Miniature Crown Master.
The final tier of the mini-crown grind: a mini (smallest) crown for a very large number of species. The exact number is hidden and is effectively most or all crownable monsters. Like Giant Crown Master, this is a long random-roll grind best farmed through investigations.
The completion award — it unlocks once every other achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds is earned. In practice the gatekeepers are the crown Master awards (Giant/Miniature Crown Master), Hunter Rank 100, and the 100-quest multiplayer grind. Clear those and everything else and this pops last.
