Tutorial chapter. Teaches dash, climb, and basic platforming. Death-friendly; respawns are instant. Reach the chapter exit at the top of the city. Unmissable.
Each chapter has a hidden cassette. Grab one to unlock its B-Side (harder remix version of that chapter). Cassette in Chapter 1 is the easiest find.
Introduces dream blocks. Madeline meets Theo. Story-driven chapter with light platforming + a slight horror tone in the dream sequences. Madeline's anxiety is introduced.
Hotel chapter. Mr. Oshiro's questline. Wind/dust mechanics introduced. Help Mr. Oshiro 'clean' the hotel through dialogue and platforming.
Strawberries are optional collectibles in every chapter. 25 is achievable just by grabbing the easy ones across the main 7 chapters.
Wind chapter. Constant lateral wind makes platforming harder. Listen for the rhythm of the gusts. Save Theo from the deeper chasm; rescue him via cooperative dash sequences.
Temple chapter introducing seeker enemies (the dark spider-like things). Avoid their detection cones. Madeline confronts her literal shadow self ('Badeline'). Boss-style escape at the end.
Confrontation chapter. Madeline races Badeline through emotionally-charged platforming. The two-dash mechanic gets introduced. Reconcile with Badeline at the end — the dual-dash becomes permanent.
Beat all 7 main chapters (Forsaken City → The Summit). Each chapter introduces new mechanics. Don't sweat death counts — the game tracks them but doesn't punish. Strawberries are optional. Take Assist Mode if needed; the achievement still counts.
Each chapter has a hidden Crystal Heart — these are required for the 'Reflection' (post-game) chapter. Chapter 1's heart involves a side-room puzzle at the top of the city. Wiki has the exact route.
80 of the ~175 main-game strawberries. Requires thorough exploration. Use the chapter-end screens to track which berries you've missed; replay chapters to clean up.
Chapter 2's heart is in the dream-block dreamscape. Find the hidden path off the main route. Dream-block + memorisation puzzle.
Chapter 4's heart is in the wind-blasted mountain. Find the eye of the storm — a calm spot in an otherwise chaos-driven area. Precise timing required.
Chapter 3's heart is hidden in the hotel's dusty depths. Solve a wind + dust puzzle to access it. Listen to Mr. Oshiro's dialogue for clues.
Chapter 2 B-Side. Dream-block dexterity ramped up. Tighter timing windows + new mechanic introductions.
B-Side levels are remixes — same chapter, much harder platforming with new mechanics. Chapter 1 B-Side teaches the harder rhythm. Death-heavy but satisfying.
Chapter 6's heart is hidden in the Badeline-paired dual-dash section. Requires you to use the new two-dash mechanic to reach an isolated alcove. One of the harder hearts.
Chapter 8's heart involves the lava/ice swap mechanic. Solve the elemental routing puzzle for the heart.
Chapter 3 B-Side. Wind + dust mechanics weaponised against you. Slippery sections combined with timed jumps.
Chapter 5's heart is hidden in the Mirror Temple's deepest sealed room. Solve a seeker-stealth puzzle while making your way to it.
Beat the entire 'Celeste Classic' Pico-8 minigame. It's a meta-reference to the original prototype. Located on a hidden screen in Chapter 1.
Chapter 4 B-Side introduces brutal wind sequences + advanced feather (gliding) timing. Known as one of the hardest B-Sides.
The Summit chapter's heart is buried at the peak's highest point — an extended platforming sequence off the main route. Use everything you've learned.
Chapter 5 B-Side ramps the seeker mechanics. More enemies, tighter routing. Practice your dash + climb cancels.
Chapter 6 B-Side. Two-dash mastery required throughout. Tight timing windows, narrow margins.
Chapter 7 B-Side. The hardest B-Side in main game. All previous mechanics combined.
Final base-game B-Side. Lava + ice + everything you've learned. Unlocks C-Sides.
Every strawberry in chapters 1-7 + chapter 8. Some are platforming nightmares — the 'Crystal Heart' adjacent ones, the dream-block trickies. Wiki + video guides essential.
The post-launch farewell chapter. Longest single chapter in the game (~2 hours minimum, often 8-15 with deaths). Tells the final story of Madeline. Emotionally heavy + brutally difficult.
Inside Chapter 1, find the hidden Pico-8 arcade. Play through it. Get the 1UP power-up in the secret area. Old-school platformer style; brief and rewarding.
C-Sides are short but BRUTAL. ~3-5 minutes each, hundreds of deaths per attempt. Unlocked by clearing all B-Sides. The 'thanks for playing' is sincere — this is mastery-tier content.
After completing Farewell, the final hidden golden berry sits at the chapter's deepest hidden chamber. Requires extreme precision. The 'Wow' name reflects everyone's reaction when they finally get it.
