Stay alive across many in-game days. Keep fed (hunt deer/fish), hydrated, warm in winter, and safe from cannibal raids by building a defensible base. This ticks up passively as you play — just don't die. A walled base with traps makes long-term survival easy.
Unlocks at the very start after the crash intro. Just begin the game and take your first steps onto the island. Unmissable.
Found-footage tapes/recordings are scattered in the bunkers and points of interest. Play each one you find (interact with the camcorder/screens). Use a collectible-location guide to make sure you hit all of them — several are in the luxury/guest bunkers you reach later.
Tied to settling in rather than escaping — reach the point where you choose the island over rescue (or survive the required long stretch). Build a solid base, keep fed and safe through the seasons, and take the stay path at the finale. Pairs with the other ending achievements from a single late save.
Use the building system (log cabin/custom structures) to construct base pieces. Chop trees for logs and place walls/floors/roofs. Reaching the building milestone unlocks it — the improved builder in Sons of the Forest makes this quick. 'CITY PLANNER' and 'MAKER' are further building milestones.
The demon bosses live deep in the cave systems. Come equipped (shotgun/rifle, armor, plenty of meds) and engage a demon. 'FIGHT DEMONS' triggers on the encounter; 'FOUGHT DEMONS' is for defeating them. Stun with the stun baton/gun and burst them down; fire and explosives help.
One of the game's rarer ending/condition achievements (the '1%' who see it). Reach the finale having met the specific hidden requirement — consult a current endings guide, as the exact trigger has shifted across updates. Keep a pre-finale save so you can reload and take each ending path.
The 'default' ending: progress the story by exploring the bunkers, collecting the keycards (Maintenance, VIP, Guest), fighting through the cave system to the golden armor/artifact area, and reaching the endgame helicopter escape. Follow the story items (shovel → rebreather → keycards → grappling hook) which gate access to each area. Choosing to leave on the chopper triggers this ending.
Tied to clothing/armor — collect and equip the various wearables found around the island (suits, hats, tactical gear, armors). Explore bunkers and camps for outfit pieces and put them on. A cosmetic collectible chase.
A bigger base-building milestone — construct a substantial base with many pieces (walls, floors, defenses, amenities). Keep building out your settlement; using the blueprint structures speeds it up. Comes naturally if you invest in a proper home base.
Kill a demon boss (not just fight it). Bring the strongest weapons you have (modern axe, shotgun, rifle), lots of ammo and healing, and use stuns to create damage windows. The demons hit hard and summon; use terrain and fire. Killing one unlocks this.
A completionist collectible achievement — gather the full set of the tracked collectibles (see a current guide for exactly which set, as this has changed with updates). Explore every camp, cave and bunker; the 3D-printer and bunker areas hold many. Pairs with the other collectible sweeps.
This ending variant involves your companions (Kelvin and/or Virginia). Keep Virginia befriended (give her gifts/weapons, don't hurt her) and reach the finale with her along. Companion-related endings require you to have built trust with them through the playthrough — don't attack them, arm them, and bring them to the end.
An alternate ending — at the final endgame decision point (the helicopter), choose to STAY rather than leave. You still need to complete all the story progression (keycards, caves, golden armor) to reach the choice. Make a save before the finale so you can grab both endings from one file.
A crafting milestone — craft a range of items (weapons, tools, upgrades) at the crafting/inventory screen. Combine items on the crafting mat (e.g. add cloth/tape to weapons for mods). Comes with normal play as you upgrade your gear.
Catch and eat fish. Craft or find a spear, wade into the water, spear fish, and cook/eat them. Do it enough times to hit the milestone — fishing is also a reliable food source for the Survivor grind.
Blueprints (buildable structure plans) are found around the map at camps and points of interest. Collect every discoverable blueprint — a location guide helps since some are off the beaten path. They also unlock nicer base-building options.
Tied to obtaining a notable rare item — likely the golden armor set or another prized find deep in the caves. Push into the endgame cave areas (with the rebreather/keycards) and grab the shiny prize. Comes as you chase the story gear.
Sample a variety of foods — cooked meat, fish, berries, mushrooms, canned food, energy drinks, etc. Eat one of each type across your playthrough. Foraging and cooking different ingredients fills this naturally.
Chop lots of trees. Base-building burns through logs, so this accrues naturally as you build. If you want to rush it, fell a forest with an axe near your base. Cumulative across the save.
Note pages (the story/lore documents) are dotted across the island and in bunkers. Pick up every one — use a notes checklist/map. Many are tucked in tents, corpses, and bunker rooms, so sweep each location thoroughly as you progress the story.
