Sekiro™: Shadows Die Twice - GOTY Edition — Achievement Walkthrough
34 achievement guides · sign in to track your unlocks · Full game page →
Story-locked tutorial step. After meeting Kuro, he gifts the Kusabimaru. Achievement pops automatically.
Story progression — the Sculptor at the Dilapidated Temple fits you with the prosthetic. Unmissable.
Sekiro's signature mechanic. When you die, you can choose to revive in place (limited charges). Unmissable on first inevitable death.
First Memorial Mob is at the Ashina Outskirts gate area. Each region has one. Talk to it; achievement pops on first encounter.
Mounted spear-wielding general at Ashina Castle Gate Path. Use Loaded Spear Prosthetic for posture damage. Parry his spear thrusts; jump his sweeping attacks. Mikiri Counter the thrust attacks for big Posture damage.
Two-phase boss. Phase 1: dancing acrobatic katanas + kunai. Phase 2: spawns illusion butterflies that attack while she retreats.
Use Snap Seeds to dispel illusions instantly. Loaded Shuriken Prosthetic interrupts her dive attacks.
Sekiro's mid-game filter. Three phases: katana, bow, then lightning. The lightning reversal is the key skill — jump when he raises sword, press attack to reverse-strike him.
Most players need 10-30 attempts. Practice deflection rhythm — Genichiro punishes greedy attacks but is open after his combos end.
Senpou Temple has a stealth-puzzle 'boss': you must catch four invisible monkeys (Hear, See, Hear-See, Invisible). Use the bell + cape + ranged attacks. Killing all 4 = achievement. Not a combat fight — puzzle and patience.
Massive ape boss in Sunken Valley. Avoid his charges (sprint forward then dodge sideways). When he goes still, dash in for combo. Get him to ~50% HP, then he loses his head.
Achievement variant possibly tied to a specific manner of defeat. Most players get both ACH13 and ACH14 from the same Sword Saint kill on a Dragon's Homecoming run.
Owl is the player's adoptive father. Aggressive, multi-combo. Phase 2 spawns Shuriken + bombs.
Use Mortal Draw + Sabimaru. Owl is heavily blockable; parry his sword combos and punish the openings. Don't get hit by the Shuriken combos in phase 2.
Use the Sculptor's Idol map to confirm you've visited each region — Ashina Outskirts, Hirata Estate, Mt. Kongo, Sunken Valley, Fountainhead Palace, etc. Most areas are story-locked; just progress.
Three-phase boss. Phase 1: standard naginata combat. Phase 2: illusion clones — use Snap Seeds. Phase 3: terror swipes — use Mortal Blade for the finish.
Different from the earlier Sunken Valley Corrupted Monk illusion.
Required for Dragon's Homecoming ending. Steps:
- Find the Divine Child at Senpou Temple after Fountainhead
- Bring her offerings (specific items)
- She rewards you with the Frozen Tears after the full questline
Missable if you progress past key story beats.
After decapitation, the Ape stands up holding his head. Phase 2: terror attacks + sword sweeps + scream (apply blowdart). Use Mortal Blade + Sabimaru poison. Dodge the screaming attack — it builds Terror, which one-shots you.
Each Ninjutsu drops from a specific Shinobi Hunter / Memorial Mob enemy. The hardest is Bestowal Ninjutsu — drops only from the Memorial Mob shrine. Wiki has exact paths.
Found in Sunken Valley. NOT a direct combat fight — bypass by jumping from above and triggering a stealth deathblow against the serpent's exposed eye. Use grapple-traversal to position correctly.
## The fight
Four-phase final boss. Each phase introduces new mechanics:
1. Sword combos — parry-focused
2. Spear + sword — wider range
3. Lightning attacks — Mikiri Counter or jump+air-deflect
4. Pure swordplay — most aggressive
Use Sabimaru for poison procs. Mortal Draw combat art is high-DPS in openings.
Tools come from miniboss drops + key item discoveries. Some are easy to miss (Spring-Load Spear from a vendor, Sabimaru from Dungeon, Divine Abduction from Folding Screen Monkeys arena). Wiki the list.
Collect all Gourd Seeds (8 in the game) + bring them to Emma at the Dilapidated Temple. Gourd Seeds drop from mini-bosses. Wiki the list.
Massive flame demon in Ashina Castle's late game. Three phases. Fight feels more like Dark Souls than standard Sekiro — Posture damage is less effective; HP damage matters more.
Use the Malcontent's Ring Prosthetic to stagger him. Stay close and aggressive — his ranged AoE is the bigger threat.
Beat the final boss (Sword Saint Isshin) after declining Owl's offer to abandon Kuro. This is the 'default' good ending. Story-locked.
Optional underwater fight. Requires the Mibu Breathing Technique (acquired in Fountainhead Palace from a specific corpse). Use Dancing Dragon Mask + grapple-points to position. The Carp is large but slow; Sabimaru poison procs end it quickly.
Accessible via a hidden second Hirata Estate dream. Requires Aromatic Branch (Senpou Temple) + Bell from Inosuke's Mother (Hirata Estate). Use both at the Buddha statue.
The fight is Owl at his prime — faster, more combos, more dangerous Shuriken throws. Hardest optional fight in the game alongside Demon of Hatred.
40 Prayer Beads in the game; 4 = 1 max-HP/Posture upgrade. Collect all 40 via miniboss drops + hidden caches. Wiki tracker essential. Most missed: Hirata Estate dream-flashback beads.
Lapis Lazuli drops from specific late-game bosses (Demon of Hatred, Headless apparitions, NG+ encounters). One upgrade = achievement. Multiple needed for full Prosthetic mastery.
## Setup
At the Owl/Kuro choice on Ashina Castle rooftop (after defeating Genichiro): pick Owl's side (abandon Kuro). Triggers the Shura ending path.
Unique boss fights: you fight Emma + Isshin instead of the normal endgame. Quickest ending — shortest playthrough.
Different from Sword Saint Isshin. Three phases: katana, then Mortal Draw mastery + Lightning Reversal. Smaller move set than Sword Saint but still brutal. Achievement triggers in the Shura ending only.
## Setup
1. Collect the Frozen Tears via the Divine Child's questline (after Fountainhead)
2. Find the everblossom branch on Mt. Kongo, Senpou Temple
3. Bring both to Kuro at the final choice
True ending of Sekiro. Hardest setup requirements of any ending.
## Setup
1. Eavesdrop on Emma at multiple Idols (Dilapidated Temple, then Ashina Castle)
2. Speak with Isshin about his condition
3. Make a choice at the final ending prompt for Purification
Mutually exclusive with Immortal Severance — pick one per playthrough.
Beat every named mini-boss + every story boss. Includes obscure ones like Headless apparitions and Shichimen Warriors. Wiki tracker essential.
Every tree fully purchased. Costs Skill Points (earned from kills). Plan to grind XP at late-game spawn loops — Sunken Valley monkeys or the Inner Sanctum area.
10 tools × 3-tier upgrades. Costs Sen + Scrap Iron/Magnetite/Lapis Lazuli. Lazuli is the bottleneck — drops only from late-game enemies and NG+. Plan multiple playthroughs.
Auto-completes when all others are unlocked. Needs 3-4 playthroughs minimum to get all 4 endings.
